About Andrew Rogerson
Andrew Rogerson’s life as an artist and a scientist has been driven by a common sustained theme: an insatiable curiosity to investigate, know, and understand the world. Andrew spent decades as a microbiologist and researcher, exploring life in microscopic detail, seeking discovery and revelation. As an artist, he is inexorably drawn to paint landscapes, exploring nature as he sees it- through the process of translation with brush, canvas and oil paints.
This enduring relationship with exploration and creativity, a scientific view within an ever-seeking quest for truth defines Rogerson’s work. His paintings reveal an idealized vision, an incorruptible purity of intention to “see”, and then to interpret that vision onto a canvas.
Through his academic and scientific career, Rogerson has lived and worked in eight universities, on multiple continents. After 51 years as an artist, Andrew Rogerson likes to quote the artist David Hockney, “I paint what I like, when I like, and where I like.” Before retiring from Academia, Dr. Rogerson was Chancellor of University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Painting continues to inspire his life.
